Reflecting a growing community. Skillfully blending a contemporary residential vocabulary with an Art Deco idiom, this mixed-use residential and retail, reflects the deep industrial history of the area and the Woodward & Lathrop Warehouse.
Project Details
The Congress Street facade is reminiscent of masonry warehouses in both proportions and detailing, using simple brickwork in the form of pilasters and simple cast stone banding at beltcourses. The curve and the projected balconies of the L Street elevation pay subtle homage to the curved & ribbed roof profile of the landmark Uline Arena immediately to the north. And the choice of metal on this curved facade is a nod to the industrial uses of this neighborhoods history. Additionally, by extending the metal to the top floor, this ties the two images together and provides an 'attic story' to the masonry facade.
